UDC Position on Breed Specific Legislation
Adopted 01/31/2006
The United Doberman Club opposes legislation that bans or restricts the
ownership of dogs based on breed, size or appearance. Breed Specific
Legislation is expensive to enforce and widely accepted as ineffective.
BSL
places an unfair and unconstitutional burden on responsible dog owners
while
having little impact on those irresponsible owners who choose to ignore
existing animal control and welfare laws.
The UDC supports the enforcement of existing laws above the institution
of
new legislated restrictions. Only Dangerous Dog Laws that are non-breed
specific and fully protect the rights of responsible dog owners will garner
the support of the UDC.
