Doberman Versatility

The Doberman is a breed that needs a job. Without a "purpose in life", Dobermans may expend their high energy levels in less than desirable behaviors such as barking, destructive chewing, and digging.

Fortunately, Dobermans are suited for a wide variety of working and recreational canine activities including search and rescue, scent detection, schutzhund, therapy dogs, ring sport, obedience, agility, tracking, and flyball. Not all Dobermans are suited for all activities, but most Dobermans can be trained successfully in one or more activities.

The UDC promotes the working nature of the Doberman by providing opportunities for Doberman owners to compete with the dogs in several dog sports, by sponsoring working dog seminars, and by awarding special versatility titles to those Dobermans that earn recognition in multiple venues.

UDC Versatility Companion Titles

The UDC Versatility Companion (VC) and Versatility Companion Excellent(VCX) awards recognize dogs that have earned titles from different dog sports and activities or completed certain testing requirements. Points are awarded in different categories of competition or activities, and each title requires a certain number of points from a minimum number of different categories.
